The continuing snowfall means that you will be able to ski back to the car park at Tux from this Sunday. They are busy preparing the Schwarze Pfanne piste which is an awesome 12km run from the top of the glacier 3250m to the valley car park at 1500m! The snow is fantastic for this time of year but be sure to bring out warm gloves and clothing if you’re thinking of making an early season visit to Hintertux.

We’ve been lucky enough to enjoy two awesome days on the glacier after the heavy snowfall on Sunday night and Monday. Local reports said 1 metre of snow had fallen over a 24 hour period! It’s typical that we got a huge dump of snow just when we were hoping for firm pistes for race training…

Conditions here are fantastic for this time of year and the resort hope to have the main run down from the glacier to the Sommerbergalm 2100m and the Ramsmoos drag lift open for this comming weekend. Pisting work is well underway and the snow cannons have been on too. There are 44 kms of pistes open this week with more set to open in time for the weekend. This really is early season skiing at it’s best and would be a great time to a make a last minute trip to Hintertux!

MOM were camped out at Profeet yesterday afternoon. Hamish and his team made us up some awesome footbeds complete with special neoprene pads for our poorly sesamoids. Check out the blows on Julia’s boots for her bunions! Just goes to show what a bootfitting pro can do to a shell to make it fit an awkward foot.

We can recommend Profeet for all your bootfitting needs. If you’ve had problems with ski boots in the past or are looking to get a new pair professionally fitted then give the Profeet team a call.

MOM will be decamping to Austria for the whole of November and the first week of December! We are looking to run two of our piste performance clinics on the Hintertux glacier in November. The group clinics are an exciting new product for us so we need to get a feel for the level of interest and therefore your feedback is really helpful.

These are provisional dates for the 5 day (Mon-Fri) clinics and will be confirmed asap subject to numbers:

Piste Performance Clinic 1: 8 to 12 November 2010

Piste Performance Clinic 2: 22 to 26 November 2010

We are able to run additional group clinics during the other weeks if there is sufficient demand, and if snow conditions are good there is also the option to offer some all terrain instruction.

If you would rather book a MOM private coaching week for you or a group, or just arrange to have the odd lesson or two then we would also like to hear from you!

For early season instruction we are able to offer some good reductions on our rates because we can be more flexible at this time of year.

MOM piste performance clinics are suitable for intermediate skiers who can ski blue runs confidently but find it difficult when the terrain gets steeper, icy or bumpy, and who are looking to develop their piste skiing skills. These clinics are focused on building confidence and giving you the skills required to ski more demanding runs.

Piste performance clinics work on: skills and drills for short and long turns, techniques and tactics for steeper runs, an introduction to carving, and how to cope with icy and bumpy runs.

Full details and benefits of our group clinics can be found on our website http://www.mindovermountains.co.uk

It is getting to that time of year again — with crisp autumnal mornings and the nights drawing in — when it’s time to start thinking about your next ski holiday!

If you are interested in MOM instruction or coaching for this coming winter then please contact us to talk about your requirement as the peak weeks are booking fast.

Julia is already booked for most of January and the first February half term week. She still has availability for the Christmas and New Year weeks, the Easter weeks, and a number of weeks in February and March. Julia is responsible for the majority of MOM private coaching bookings during the main winter season period, although she is currently unable to provide this service to clients in France.

If you are interested in MOM instruction/coaching in France it is always worth giving us a quick call to see if Stevie has availability. He has commitments with New Generation Ski and Snowboard School (Courchevel 1650) for most of the winter season but might be available for some bookings in the low season weeks. Stevie will be running our pre season group clinics in Hintertux and is also available for private coaching bookings or lessons during November and the first week of December.

Our late season All Terrain Skills Clinic details will be confirmed in due course.
